| I helped Mike install this stuff and am always surprised how good it does sound. Evan, One of the biggest forks in the road you will make is what kind of tweeters you like that go with your front components. Titanium or traditional soft dome tweeters are usually the two that most car audio manufacturers use. I personally find that the soft dome tweeters are not as harsh compared to others, however if you have the proper head unit with good crossover and equalization you can compensate for some speaker inadequacies. Just make sure you listen to both types before you decide what you like. Next, you need to decide if you want to go with the passive crossovers that come with the speakers or go for a totally active crossover setup. I prefer the active setup provided you have a very flexible crossover like a Pioneer Preimer P9 with the add on processor or the Pioneer Preimer DEH-P800PRS like in Whitepearlz's vehicle. DEH-P800PRS P9 Head Unit DEQ-P9 Processor for the P9 Z's have large center consoles and steering columns which require separate left and right channel crossover level and EQ tuning. Using time alignment can really change the way the whole system sounds. I have used time alignment for the past 13 years winning quite a few sound off judges in the past. Amps, Just make sure that you have enough channels to play with. For example I would use a 4 channel for your front speakers. If you start your system with the passive crossover just bridge the channels to create a 2 channel setup. At least you will have the option to go either way. Subs, Its hard to say what works because peoples preferences are so different. From my experience you generally want 10 watts per inch of driver you use, for example a 10" sub will need around 100watts. If you want to double your output (around +3Db) you can either add a second sub or use around 10 times the wattage on your existing sub (if it can take it). Your subs are generally in two categories, conventional subwoofers like the JL W6 series and Super woofers like the W7 series. To be quite honest the W6 series woofers will be good for around 95% of the customer base out there. The W7 you have to pay a lot more for just a little bit better performance. Besides you need a pretty big amp to power any type of "super woofer" to their full potential. Hope this helps, If you have any Q's Evan just email me... I couldn't reply to your original post, it timed out so I hope you read this.
